Shannondoah
Kennels was established by William "Auggie" Argabright, Jr.
in Arnold, Maryland in 1977. Our goal is to improve the quality, trainability
and competitiveness of the chocolate and yellow Labrador Retrievers.
As a pioneer in the Retriever Hunt Test movement, Auggie had the first
chocolate Lab to earn the AKC title of Master Hunter (MH). Auggie's
Lab, MHR Shannondoah's Free Sprite, MH, "Doc",
was the second Lab to hold both the AKC and the NAHRA Master Hunter titles.
Doc was the only dog to participate in both origial AKC and NAHRA Master
National Invitationals. Doc was also qualified for the first AKC Master
National Retriever Test in Delaware.
Shannondoah Labs have competed in and held many State Gun Dog Championship
Titles in MD, VA and PA. The Labs have appeared in Just Labs,
Gray's Sporting Journal, on greeting cards by Dristen Hoffman
and on Maryland Public Television's Outdoors Maryland. Auggie's
Labs have participated in many Retriever demonstrations for Ducks Unlimited
in Maryland and the New Jersey Wings & Water Festival.
Now located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Shannondoah Labs are still very
active in the hunting test movement. Shannondoah Labradors have earned
many titles:

Auggie
has been an official AKC judge many years and judged over fifty hunt tests,
including the 1999 Master National Retriever Hunt Test in Camden, SC as
well as several AKC field trials.
